The project

7Seas Storage was founded by 7Seas to develop the Partanna battery energy storage system. The system is designed to store electricity during periods of higher renewable generation and supply it later when demand or grid conditions require it. It is also expected to provide grid services and reduce the need to curtail renewable generation in Sicily.

Terna, the Italian transmission system operator, has awarded a 200 MW grid connection solution for the project at the Partanna 220 kV substation. The company owns the site. The project is in detailed design and permitting.
